Description
The Seagate SkyHawk ST4000VX016 is a dedicated drive for video surveillance systems. 4 TB, 5400 rpm, 256 MB cache, CMR recording, 24/7 operation. ImagePerfect firmware is optimised for continuous sequential recording from many cameras rather than fast small-file response like desktop drives.
The drive supports up to 64 cameras and multi-drive recorders. The lower speed means less heat and noise, which matters for a recorder in a cramped box without active cooling. It is not the best choice for a gaming or work PC: with small files it is slower than 7200 rpm desktop models.
