Description
The WD Red Plus WD40EFPX is a 4 TB NAS drive with CMR recording. 5400 rpm class, 256 MB cache, 24/7 operation in systems with up to 8 drives. NASware 3.0 firmware optimises behaviour in a RAID array: it limits error recovery time so the controller does not drop the drive, and accounts for vibration from neighbouring drives.
Watch the name: a NAS needs the Red Plus (CMR), not the basic WD Red, which uses SMR at these capacities. The drive is quiet and cool, so it suits a NAS kept at home.
